Sharon Beshenivsky 1968 to 2005
PC Sharon Beshenivsky
The deceased officer is 38 year old Sharon Beshenivsky. She joined as a police constable on February 7th 2005, she had previously worked for West Yorkshire Police for a little under two years as a police community support officer.
She was married to Paul and has three children and two step-children (three boys and two girls). The eldest child is 14 and the youngster child, a girl, is four - it was her birthday yesterday.
Sharon completed her basic training and joined Team 5 at Bradford South in May.
Chief Constable said: "She has been described by her inspector and all of her colleagues as enthusiastic and very positive. Her colleagues remember her particularly for her infectious laugh. Her shift inspector told me last night he would have liked 30 Sharon's on the relief.
"She was very proud of her family and when she did have time to relax she was a keen bingo player."
Statement from Paul Beshenivsky
Statement from Paul Beshenivsky, the husband of murdered PC Sharon Beshenivsky:
Sharon was my rock. She was loved by everyone who met her and my family's loss is felt by so many.
It breaks my heart to think that I will never hear her infectious laugh again.
To think that she won't be here to see our children grow.
When Sharon left for work on Friday, it was such a happy day. Our
youngest daughter, Lydia was celebrating her fourth birthday and she waited excitedly for her mum to come home. When Sharon was late I knew something was wrong.
The people who did this to Sharon and Teresa and to our families are cowards.
They took away my wife, but they also took away a wonderful mum and the world is a darker place without her.
Sharon was so proud to be in the police and we were so proud of
her. Her enthusiasm for the role spread through us all and we supported her throughout.
She lost her life trying to protect people and that was Sharon all over.
She always put others first and would do anything to help someone out if they needed it.
The support my family and I have received from Sharon's friends, colleagues and strangers has been a great comfort. The Chief Constable visited us and spoke about the "Police family". That is exactly how Sharon saw it and we now feel a part of that family. I would like to thank everyone who has passed on their kind wishes and I would also like to wish Teresa a speedy recovery.
However my family and I now ask that we be left to grieve in peace.
